It's supposed to, but for me I've not smelled vape smoke that's smelled 'nice'. It's not as bad as cigarette smoke, but I still don't like it. Plus, I also just don't like the smoke getting blown in my face, even if it disperses pretty quickly. |

"Then you've got the chance to do better next time." "Next time?" "Course. Doing better next time. That's what life is." | |

Yes, let's just blindly raise the price until nobody can afford it anymore. That's not going to cause a new branch of organized crime. Seriously we're doing it right at the moment. Special smoking areas in public places. Only allow smoking outside in Hotels, Restaurants and Pubs. Inform the kids. Done, can't do anything else, after a while it just comes down to natural selection. People can put in their bodies whatever they want to put in there. All we should do is avoid harm to other people as much as possible. |

So, the topic is about Americans or in general, because I'm kinda confused? Why do people smoke? Because of all kinds of psychological reasons. For teenagers, it's usually peer pressure. For other people, it's stress. I don't think there's anyone out there that picks up on a bad habit like smoking, just because 'lel y not'. I started smoking right after I finished high-school and did it intensely for 2-3 years. As in, 1-2 packs per day if possible. I started out in a moment of stress and felt like cigarettes calmed me a great deal. And before I knew it, I couldn't stop. It felt too good. I know, it was very stupid, very harmful for me and for others, and I'm extremely glad that at some point I could simply let go. So, usually, any kinds of methods that promise to cure physical dependence are bulls***, they are only treating the effect, not the cause. If people want to quit smoking, they should find their own root of the problem. If it's peer pressure, they should ask themselves why they think of themselves so lowly as to believe that people won't accept them for who they are and etc., you get the point, I'm no psychologist after all. If it's stress, they should force themselves to take on a healthy 'addiction' like physical activity, or watching series, or reading, or anything that won't eventually kill them. Seeking therapeutic help would also be a great solution and it should be encouraged more and more. Also, I don't know if increasing prices would work. Here, at least, it's already happening. But I know how a smoker usually behaves. I would sometimes give up on some foods to have money for cigarettes. It's stupid alright, but that's one of the basic mindsets of a smoker. A better idea is to ban smoking from public places or private places with public destinations, at least people can get rid of passive smoking and it gives smokers less time to... smoke. P.S. About banning cigarettes, I remembered about Al Capone, lol. And what banning alcoholic drinks gave birth to. Won't banning cigarettes have the same effect? |

I smoke. It is a dirty habit, stinks, and if I keep it up it will kill me. I started because a lot of people in construction smoke, a pretty crappy reason I know, but that is what happened. Like others have said in this thread, raising prices is not the answer. I do not smoke around other people (I dislike it when I see people smoking on a crowded street, totally unfair) I always dispose of my cigs in the rightful manner. I know a lot of people do not do this though, so I totally understand that a lot of people dislike those who smoke. |
